On 27th March we heard from our partners that Uganda and Rwanda were in total lockdown. Corona Virus had finally entered their countries and their governments knew that they had to act quickly.
This has left many people there very vulnerable. Prices of everyday commodities like flour and rice have rocketed. No travel at all is allowed. They have no facilities to store food safely, they live day to day as their finances allow. Things are already bad for them, they are lucky if they eat one meal a day, things will get worse.
Our partners have asked us for help to feed the poor in their parishes and we in turn ask you to help us help them.
Please, however little (or much) you may be able to afford really will give them food, will give them hope, will give them a chance to ride this virus out. We know everyone is facing difficulties at the moment, but somehow we feel their issues are more pressing than not having toilet roll or anti bacterial wipes.
They remain in our prayers, as dear Supporters, do you.
We may not be a huge charity but fortunately our personal relationship with our partners enables us to respond quickly to an emergency situation when one arises.
Thanks to the amazing response of our supporters, and a dip into our small reserves, we have been able to send almost £10,000 to our partners since this appeal was launched just over a month ago.
BUT IT’S NOT OVER YET AND YOUR DONATIONS ARE STILL NEEDED.
The lockdown in Uganda has just been extended for a further 2 weeks
Due to the lockdown it has been hard to obtain the usual photos and testimonies, however we hope you will be encouraged by those we have obtained.
