The value of CHI child sponsorship was powerfully brought home to us through the story of one child, Leah Niteka. She was pictured being baptised in our April to July 2012 edition of the CHI magazine.
Leah was cared for at an orphanage set up by Chrissie Chapman for victims of the genocide in Burundi in the 1990’s and was just 18 months old when she was rescued. She was suffering from HIV/Aids and was not expected to survive beyond the age of 2 years. In fact she lived for 19 ½ years and as one of those who looked after her, Libby wrote this tribute to Leah. We wanted to share it with you….
“After my departure I have experienced a meaningful life!”
